Undoubtedly the most fun and easiest way to enjoy dumplings, the secret to this Asian-style fondue is its umami broth! (It's our 5th taste, along with sweet, salty, sour, and bitter.) Made with miso and enhanced with seaweed and mushrooms, it's so delicious you'll want to drink it as a soup after your fondue meal!
Choosing store-bought dumplings to prepare this recipe makes it an efficient and lively way to treat your guests! Don't forget to prepare a generous amount of broth, as the dumplings absorb a lot of water while cooking. Bon appétit!

Ingredients
Broth
4 liters of vegetable stock
60 ml (4 tbsp) of clear miso
60 ml (4 tbsp) of soy sauce
20 dehydrated shiitakes
12 2 mm slices of fresh ginger
4 sheets of nori or other seaweed of your choice (optional)
6 star anises
2 pinches of sugar
Asian Mayo
125 ml (½ cup) of real mayonnaise
25 ml (1 ½ tbsp) of soy sauce
5 ml (1 tsp) of maple syrup
2.5 ml (½ tsp) of toasted sesame oil
Dipping Ingredients
Frozen or thawed dumplings
Baby bok choi
Varied mushrooms
Thinly sliced carrot
Radish slices
Asian leafy vegetables (the photo shows amaranth, or Chinese spinach)
Fried noodles and/or green onions to sprinkle on top
Flowers (violet pansies) for decoration
Preparation
Combine all broth ingredients in a large pot, bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for 20 minutes to bind and concentrate flavors. Filter the broth before pouring it into the Fondussimo Set.
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce, then arrange the dipping ingredients and sides on serving tableware.
A few tips
If you're not looking for a vegetarian recipe, replace the vegetable broth in this recipe with chicken or beef broth for an even stronger umami flavor! Shrimp, beef and chicken in all their forms will then be ready to be enjoyed.
This recipe is perfect for making homemade dumplings. Just be sure to seal them well to prevent the filling from leaking into the broth!
