Let's Talk Fondue with Cassandra Loignon!

Our founder Dany Bernard chatted with Cassandra about the release of her Limited Edition Fondussimo product. We're thrilled to share this encounter with you!

Hi Cassandra! First, we want to know more about you! Your cookbooks are a big hit! Where did you learn to cook?

I've been interested in cooking since I was young. My mother, who was born in Italy, cooked a lot at home and passed on her passion for food to me. Cooking and hosting have always been part of our family values.

This interest in cooking led to several jobs in different restaurants. I also took a cooking course at the Fierbourg Hotel School to perfect my skills. In 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to publish my first cookbook, Simplement chic. Today, I've published six books and will publish two more this year as part of my "Cuisiner les saisons" series.

Would you say that eating fondue is a tradition in your family? What does fondue mean to you?

I love that fondue gives you the freedom to eat what you want and what you like. It allows me to spend more time with family and friends instead of spending hours cooking a meal. Because it's really flexible, it can cater to all tastes, so it's perfect for hosting. It's friendly, communal and comforting. At home, we eat fondue any time of the week or year, and we even take it outside in the summer!

Why did you choose Fondussimo over all the other fondue sets on the market?

I've been using the Fondussimo products for a long time and I love them. It's a totally different concept that really revolutionizes the way you eat fondue.

The Fondussimo Fondue Set is your very first kitchen tool, and it is something special! What did you enjoy the most about designing this product?

I loved the opportunity to have creative freedom on the design of the fondue set. I was able to make it completely my own. My team and I thought of every detail to add my personal touch, from the colours to the packaging and pictures.

What was your reaction when you first saw the fondue set in your colours and with your logo? Was it an emotional moment for you?

I literally had goosebumps when I saw the final result! It was truly a full-circle moment, the logical continuation of my projects in the kitchen and the start of many more to come!

In your personal experience, what makes Fondussimo's basket-type fondue special compared to the traditional fondue of our childhood?

The baskets make fondue so much easier, especially when there are lots of people around the table! They let you go off the beaten track of traditional fondues and enjoy all kinds of different foods.

The Evolution fondue set says it all: we're evolving! To broth fondue, we've added cheese fondue and dessert fondue. What are your favourite recipes?

My 2 exclusive recipes are my personal favourites: The Port Fondue and The Artisanal Cheese Fondue. I like to stick to what's traditional, but perfect them to my taste so that a typically "basic" recipe becomes truly amazing.

How do you see the future of the Fondussimo X Cassandra Loignon partnership? Any other products in mind?

I have a lot of ideas for products that I would like to develop, so let's wait and see what happens!

What projects do you have in mind for the coming year?

After the release of my first ready-to-eat product in grocery stores in 2023, my Red Velvet Yule Log (whose success was completely beyond my expectations!), I'm super excited to continue this roll with the arrival of my fondue products! Five different sauces and a broth concentrate are now available! I'm looking forward to building on this momentum in 2024 with lots of new food products.

If you had one piece of advice for everyone to make the most of their Fondussimo experience, what would it be?

Don't wait for a special occasion to make fondue. Every opportunity is a good one, whether it's during the week or on the weekend, with family, friends or as a couple!

Cooking tip: double the amount of broth and freeze it! That way, you'll have a supply on hand for a weekday evening when you're in the mood for a quick fondue! Simply defrost the stock and use what you have in the fridge.
