3 tips for including cheese in your next fondue

Does your favourite part of traditional fondue involve making little meatballs stuffed with your favourite cheese? With Fondussimo, you’ll discover many new ways to enjoy cheese fondue!

1. Straight into the baskets!

Thanks to Fondussimo’s perforated baskets, you can cook several types of cheese directly in the broth. This way you can control their melting and then pair them with your favourite foods, with mushrooms being at the top of the list!

Some cheeses stand out for the quality of their solid texture: fresh cheeses (e.g. Bocconcini, fresh cheddar, cheese curds), all grilling cheeses (e.g. Halloumi, Doré-mi), certain pressed cheeses (e.g. .: Feta), and semi-hard cheeses in general (e.g.: gouda, Oka, raclette.)

2. Hello, stuffed meatballs!

At Fondussimo, one of our preferred ways to incorporate cheese fondue is by cooking meatballs stuffed with our favourite cheeses in the broth. The easiest way to make these meatballs is to use sausage meat and shape it around Bocconcini pearls.

That said, stuffed meatballs are also a great way to incorporate cheeses that might melt away in the broth. These include blue cheese, parmesan, and aged cheddar. Just make sure you seal the cheese properly inside the meat, and you’re good to go.

3. Homemade ballotines are so, so good!

Still nostalgic for delicious ballotines? This is the case for many of our fans who have come up with an original solution: they prepare their little packages of delight in advance by securing them with a toothpick.

The advantage of this method is that you can handle them by holding the toothpicks, which also prevents you from handling raw meat and then touching the cooked ingredients on your plate. As a result, this minimizes the risks of cross-contamination and food poisoning, especially in children, pregnant women as well as the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
